On Oct. 4th Hurricane Stan left hundreds dead and thousands homeless.

On Oct. 4th, 2005 Hurricane Stan hit Guatemala hard. Villages in Solola, near Lake Atitlan, took a lot of damage. Hundreds died and thousands more were left with nothing more than the clothes on their back and the strength to start over.

Over the next couple of days we should be able to get some more photos up and information about how every village was affected. For now there are some photos of: Panajachel, Santiago Atitlan, Santa Catarina and San Marcos.

Felicia Chuj
Felicia Chuj had just been told that while her son Pedro
had lost his house, he and his family were alive and well.

Inevitably, those with the least
to loose, lost the most.

You can help in two ways:

    1) Donate what you can.

Your money will be well spent. We have the willingness and the ability to do what must be done to get back on our feet. Help us with the resources. Click on a link to the left to learn more.

    2) Come to Guatemala.

Unlike the tsunami that devastated Thailand and Indonesia, Hurricane Stan left Central America's travel infrastructure virtually intact. If you have reservations do not cancel them. If you don't, consider Guatemala for your next vacation.
