hi duncan - glad to hear from masumi that you and the kids are ok. greetings to all of you and good luck and a strong will for reconstructing your beautiful pana. Unfortunately I am not in the Bay area right now to help masumi directly but I consider myself a proud member of her global mobilization to help you out. Now I am off spreading your blog link - keep us updated.
i am a canadian who knows some people in Jaibalito, i lived there for a while. I recently got word from a friend who had visited shortly after the hurricane that Lake Atitlan was devasted. (There is little or no news coverage here). Is Jaibalito okay? From what i hear, and my personal knowledge of the local geography, I am worried. Does anyone have any information on the following Jaibalito people:
1. Patrick and Natalie, who ran the Train Station Cafe
2. Hans, the german who ran Jaibalito Hostel
3. A 24 year old chechkal mayan named Bonita and her son (about 2 years old).
4. The two teenage boys who worked for Patrick and Natalie at the Train Station Cafe.
I would be greatful for any details at all...it is hard to learn what has happened from where I am.
